Roots and Resilience

I was raised in a small Arkansas town along the Mississippi River, where my late mother, a fierce advocate for education, and my grandmother taught me patience, faith, and resilience. Their lessons in strength and perseverance continue to guide my life and leadership.

Growing up in the 1980s and 1990s, I experienced both the sting of racism and the encouragement of teachers who nurtured my potential. These contrasts exposed the inequities in schooling and fueled my lifelong commitment to equity, systems change, and access.

Power of Education

My parents and grandmother instilled in me a belief in education as a path to possibility. Their encouragement led me into engineering, business, and ultimately a Ph.D., shaping my vision to help others reach beyond what they imagine possible.

Trained as an industrial engineer, I learned to analyze systems and drive effectiveness. I now apply that systems-thinking to foster collaboration, belonging, and performance—seeing organizations not just as structures, but as ecosystems that thrive when every person is valued and included.

For nearly two decades, I’ve supported C-suite leaders, advanced student success, and built systems to attract and retain talent and students. I’ve advised presidents, CFOs, boards, and led initiatives in strategy and organizational development—translating vision into action through collaboration and effective processes.

Guided by my mother’s lesson to always do the right thing, I strive to help institutions, organizations, and communities build systems where everyone can thrive. Though my story began in a small Delta town, my purpose is far reaching.
